"The Chosen One" is a haunting vignette that delves into the psychology of power, devotion, and self-erasure within a cult of personality. Featuring a cast of five, the piece centers on one "chosen" figure whose followers exhaust themselves in a relentless pursuit to keep them elevated—literally and metaphorically. Through intricate weight sharing, the ensemble sacrifices their own strength, autonomy, and well-being, as the chosen one manipulates their loyalty and tests their limits. As the group's physical and emotional resources dwindle, all but one are left drained, disillusioned, and grounded in the aftermath of blind devotion.
