Access for Students
Alternative Motion Project brings art and dance to the classroom through our active and engaging partnerships with area public schools. Our educational outreach programs consist of an inclusive, comprehensive curriculum in the school setting through which each student can participate. AMP then hosts these students for a theater experience involving interactive, professional, educational performances.

“AMP provided a once in a lifetime experience that was inclusive, engaging, and stimulating for all of my students. Students were ecstatic and looked forward to going to class each day. They conversed about the dance steps and helped each other remember them. In the end, they gave a heartwarming performance and not a single student was without a smile on his or her face.” - Xay Thow, Grade 2 Teacher
“It was wonderful to see our students participating in a movement activity. English Language Learner (ELL) students especially enjoyed the music and movement, and were able to follow along, and learn new language through the experience. Some less successful academic students were able to excel in this new format.”
- Mary Wald, Grade 5 Teacher |
“Our experience with AMP this year was truly valuable! It allowed our students to try movement in a new way. They had fun, were engaged, and really enjoyed performing for an audience. It allowed my students who struggle academically an outlet to show their talents in another format. The staff was energetic, met the needs of our students, and truly cared about working with our kids. I hope AMP will be an experience we can have at Como every year!” - Laurie Halvorson, Grade 4 Teacher
"Most often this is the first experience for our students to see Art a different way. Your donations have a huge impact on children showing them there's more out there than they realize."
