AMP is still rising to the unique challenges posed from the COVID-19 pandemic. We need your support to transform our programming to address the needs of our communities. We are fully self-funded this year and your generosity will support an array of ambitious additions to our activities:
AMP is still rising to the unique challenges posed from the COVID-19 pandemic. We need your support to transform our programming to address the needs of our communities. We are fully self-funded this year and your generosity will support an array of ambitious additions to our activities:
- World Premiere of On The Verge - AMP's 1st OUTDOOR PERFORMANCE WORK at The Lab Brewery. A cast of 9 movers enter a turbulent world to experience the multiverse of limits, possibilities, and connections of the body, space, and identity. Directed by Kristin Howe + Joanna Lees with original composition by award-winning sound artist Dameun Strange.
AMP will navigate rehearsal and performance with the restrictions of living through a pandemic while experimenting with the challenges + opportunities of working outside of the proscenium theater space. This includes events like Zoom In: An Open Rehearsal (May 23) and our Weekly Behind the Scenes Rehearsal Video Blog and creating an additional film version of On The Verge. More info here. - WEEKLY VIRTUAL MOVEMENT CLASSES for area Professionals (ongoing). These classes aim to build community among Minnesota's dance artists and are offered on a sliding scale to meet monetary needs and maximize financial accessibility.
More info here. - AMP'S 1st SUMMER WORKSHOP (TBD Summer 2021). This 4-day workshop (in person and virtual) will invite participants to engage in various movement practices, improvisation, creative process, and repertory material.
This year, and beyond, our goals through these activities are: - To lead in our values in accessibility, particularly for patrons and community members affected financially by COVID-19. This includes increasing stipends for personnel and removing financial barriers for patrons.
- To maintain and increase AMP’s presence in the dance community and the Twin Cities during the pandemic. This includes providing more community events, resources, and programs, especially for area dancers/artists.
- To make AMP more equitable, internally within the organization and externally within our activities and focus. This includes the start of a Community Fund that is specifically allocated to improving AMP and increasing awareness regarding racial equity and justice, at large and within dance. Our statement on systemic racism can be found on our homepage.
- To remain flexible and adaptable to the ever-changing nature of our world and resources. We will act with the utmost safety and health in mind for all involved.
