HELP US CELEBRATE A DECADE OF AMP!
November 1-18, 2021: Help us celebrate our 10th SEASON and reach our $10,000 goal for Give to the Max Days 2021. Every Dollar Raised WILL BE MATCHED (up to $5,000) and will directly support our efforts to return to safe indoor programming.

Like many organizations, we are still rising to the unique challenges the pandemic has posed.
We continue to prioritize compensation for our personnel as we return to safe, indoor programming.  Your contribution also supports our efforts to expand our programs’ accessibility by adding virtual and in person offerings and financial assistance  for those in need.

  • DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT: The first $5,000 raised will be MATCHED by a wonderfully generous donor!
    $100 donation = $200 IMPACT
  • EMPLOYER MATCH PROGRAM: Find out if your employer will also match your donation to AMP - it's very easy! Simply fill out the form your employer gives you and send to AMP: 5740 36th Avenue S, Minneapolis, MN 55417.
  • PRIZES: Each hour on Give to the Max Day, Give MN will give out additional awards through random drawings of all donations transacted during the previous hour.

We are fully self-funded this year and your generosity will support an array of ambitious additions to our activities:
  • Our Triumphant Return to the Theater for AMP's 10th SEASON PERFORMANCE at The Southern Theater (March 2022). Includes audience engagement initiatives like Open Rehearsal (February 20th) and Behind the Scenes Rehearsal Video Blog. The weekend will feature our 11 member company in a variety of works:

    • On the Verge (Staged Premiere): Directed by Kristin Howe + Joanna Lees with original composition by award-winning sound artist Dameun Strange. Premiered outdoors June 2021.
    • assemblage (World Premiere - from 2020 canceled show) by 9th Season Guest Artist, Erinn Liebhard.
    • Cycles (World Premiere - from 2020 canceled show) by choreographed by Company Member, Brenna Mosser. Audience Create-a-Dance 2019-20.
    • World Premiere by Kristin Howe.
    • World Premiere by Joanna Lees.

  • 10th YEAR RETROSPECTIVE - Throughout the year, we will be creating content that shares our favorite highlights, moments, and works over AMP's 10 year history. Includes videos, behind the scenes, photos and more!

  • ON THE VERGE - Film Premiere - We will be sharing a new dance film work of our most recent work On The Verge (Collaboration with V. Paul Virtucio).

  • WEEKLY MOVEMENT CLASSES for area professionals (ongoing). These classes aim to build community among Minnesota's dance artists. More info here.

  • AMPLIFIED SUMMER WORKSHOP (Summer 2022). This 5-day workshop (in person and virtual) will invite participants to engage in various movement practices, improvisation, creative process, and repertory material.

This year, we will continue to build upon our goals:
  • To lead in our values in accessibility, particularly financial and physical accessibility. This includes increasing stipends for personnel, removing financial barriers for patrons, and offering virtual events for programming to accommodate those who cannot physically attend. 81% of our budget last year went toward compensation for personnel.
  • To maintain and increase AMP’s presence in the dance community and the Twin Cities. This includes providing more community events, resources, and programs, especially for area dancers/artists.
  • To make AMP more equitable, internally within the organization and externally within our activities and focus. This includes a Community Fund that is specifically allocated to improving AMP and increasing awareness regarding racial equity and justice, at large and within dance. We are in the early stages of putting together a strategic plan to address these needs.
  • To remain flexible and adaptable to the ever-changing nature of our world and resources. We will act with the utmost safety and health in mind for all involved.

And let's celebrate our past accomplishments over the past 10 years:
  • Produced 12 full length shows & 1 Screendance film
  • Worked with 50+ artists
  • 3 domestic tours
  • Created over 40 new works
  • Commissioned over 20 new works from outside artists
  • Worked with over 500 public school students annually 2016-2019

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO MOVE BIG?Move BIG is more than a tagline- it is AMP's philosophy. Move BIG means more than the large and virtuosic movement that Howe and Lees have been known for. Move BIG is advancing the art form of dance in any way we can. Whether it is through our choreography and performances, collaborations with other artists, engaging audience members, or education and exposure to those in need, we can come together as a community and acknowledge a purpose greater than ourselves.
