Dear Valued AMP Supporter,
Nearly two years ago, we produced and performed our 12th Season Performance in March 2024. Following that season and AMP's most expansive two years to date, we temporarily limited the majority of our activities and operations so that I could care for myself, my mental health, and my overall wellbeing. It was a really difficult decision to make, especially in dance, because if you aren't publicly making or sharing work, it's easy to feel like you'll be left behind. But taking this time has been invaluable and I am grateful for the support by AMP's Board of Directors' who continue to meet regularly. Last summer, we started to strategically plan how to methodically increase AMP's activity level again as our collective passions are still embedded in our mission to empower and connect communities through contemporary dance.
With this in mind, we are thrilled to announce that AMP has been invited to perform at the annual Midwest Regional Alternative Dance Festival in Kalamazoo, MI on March 6th! We are resetting and performing an excerpt from our 2024 show entitled, The Chosen One. The cast of 5 will travel March 5-8 to attend the festival, perform, and connect with Midwest dance artists and communities.
In preparation for this performance, we invite you to join us in the studio for a brief informal showing this Sunday, March 1st. Being able to rehearse the work in front of outside eyes is an important part in getting the work ready to perform. We would be honored to see you there in person (more details below).
Connecting through art and community is especially vital right now. If you are in a place to do so, we hope you will support our RADfest performance with a tax-deductible donation. We are hoping to raise $4,000 in the next 2.5 weeks to support and offset the expenses associated with this project. It's a particularly devastating and challenging time throughout Minnesota due to the Operation Metro Surge by DHS/ICE.
